What should I do if my line set is kinked?
If your line set is kinked, it can affect the performance of your MRCOOL system and may need to be addressed before continuing with installation or operation.
Step 1: Try to Gently Straighten the Kink
In some cases, a slight kink in the line set can be carefully straightened by hand. Be gentle—forcing the line can cause additional damage or cracking.
Step 2: Contact a Professional Technician
If you're unable to straighten the line set yourself, a licensed HVAC technician may be able to cut out the damaged section and braze a repair. Keep in mind that if the line is ruptured during handling or repair, refrigerant (commonly referred to as Freon) may leak out. This can compromise system performance and require recharging by a professional.
Step 3: Replace the Line Set
If the damage is severe or cannot be repaired effectively, you may need to purchase a new line set. MRCOOL offers replacement line sets compatible with most systems, including pre-charged options for DIY installations.
Note: Any modification to a pre-charged line set (such as cutting or brazing) voids its pre-charged status and may require additional vacuuming, charging, and professional servicing.
