A step by step guide- Installing Your MRCOOL Smart Thermostat

Included with MRCOOL Smart Thermostat Purchase:

Tools Needed:

Drill with 3/16" Drill Bit (for mounting anchors)

Phillips Screwdriver

Wire Stripper (optional)

Hammer (optional)

Pencil (optional)

Preparations:

Power off your system: Turn off the power at the breaker or disconnect. Allow 15-20 minutes for it to de-energize before starting the installation.

Verify no air is coming from the system: If you're working with a boiler, ensure the main flame is out.

Check the thermostats backplate for any of these indicators and contact support for assistance. 

Installing Your MRCOOL Smart Thermostat

1. Power Source
   Ensure the MRCOOL Smart Thermostat is connected to a 24V hardwire power source.

2. Placement
   Install the thermostat within line of sight of your mini split system in the same room for optimal communication and performance.

3. Prepare the Backplate

   • Pull the labeled wires through the center hole of the MRCOOL backplate.

   • Use the provided drywall anchors and screws to securely mount the backplate to the wall.

4. Wiring
   Follow the wiring diagram below to connect the wires properly. 

5. Mount the Thermostat
   Align the MRCOOL Smart Thermostat with the backplate and press gently until it clicks into place.

Wiring the Thermostat:

• Do you have multiple R-wires? (This includes R, RC, and RH).
• If yes, connect RH → RH and R or RC → RC.
• If you only have one R, RC, or RH wire, insert it into the RC terminal.
• Insert the remaining wires into their corresponding terminals. Press the terminal block buttons for easier insertion.
• Gently push any excess wires back into the wall to prevent drafts.
