Preventing Leaks from the Air Handler: Drainage & Leveling Checklist

Proper installation and maintenance of your MRCOOL mini-split system are essential for preventing water leaks. Below are key areas to inspect if you're experiencing or aiming to avoid condensation-related issues:

📏 1. Check Leveling

• Ensure the indoor air handler is properly leveled during and after installation.

• An uneven unit can cause water to pool in the drain pan, eventually leading to leaks.

• Even if the system has been running fine, check the leveling again if leaks appear—it may have shifted over time.

🌬️ 2. Ensure Proper Clearance

• Confirm there is adequate clearance around the unit.

• Blocked airflow due to nearby objects or walls can cause excess condensation buildup and leakage.

• Maintain manufacturer-recommended spacing on all sides of the unit.

• Make sure the condensation drain line slopes downward for gravity-fed drainage.

• Look for kinks, bends, or blockages in the line that may impede water flow.

• If any section of the line inclines upward, a condensate pump will be required to ensure proper drainage.

• Regularly check for clogs from dirt, algae, or debris.
