🔌 Turn Off Power
-
Always turn off power to the unit at the breaker to avoid injury or damage.
-
-
📦 Locate the Cover
-
Make sure you have the correct front panel. Most air handler covers are shaped to fit snugly and only go on one way.
-
-
🧼 Inspect the Edges & Gasket
-
Check that the mounting surface is clean and that any foam gasket (if present) is intact for proper sealing.
-
-
📍Align the Cover
-
Align the top edge or tabs with the corresponding slots or hooks on the unit. Many covers will have small hooks or tabs that catch first.
-
-
🔩 Secure the Screws
-
Use a screwdriver to fasten the screws at the corners or along the edges. Usually 4–6 screws are used. Be careful not to overtighten — just snug enough to secure.
-
-
🔍 Check for Gaps
-
Ensure the panel is flush against the unit with no visible gaps.
-
-
🔛 Restore Power
-
Once everything is back in place, turn the power back on and make sure the unit operates normally.
-
📌 Tips:
-
Check the manual — some MRCOOL or ducted units have specific clips or foam seals that need to be placed in a certain way.
-
If it’s not fitting properly, don’t force it — check for wiring or tubing getting in the way.
-
If the panel includes an access window or filter door, make sure that’s latched too.
