A MRCOOL drain hose (also called a condensate drain hose) is a flexible tube — usually about 13 feet long — that carries away the condensation produced by your MRCOOL HVAC system.

When an air conditioner or heat pump operates, it cools the air, causing moisture from the air to condense on the cold evaporator coil inside the air handler. This moisture collects in a drain pan and must be safely removed to prevent water buildup.

Where Does the MRCOOL Drain Hose Connect?
The drain hose connects directly to the drain outlet or drain port located at the bottom or side of the indoor air handler.
-
On MRCOOL mini-splits, like the DIY or Olympus series, the drain port is usually on the back-right or bottom corner of the indoor unit.
-
Some models may have multiple ports (left and right) to allow flexibility based on how the unit is installed.
-
You simply attach the drain hose to the outlet, secure it with a hose clamp or snap fitting (depending on the model), and route it downward.
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The drain hose’s main purpose is to:
-
Collect the condensate water from the air handler’s drain pan.
-
Direct that water safely outside the home or into a designated drainage system.
The 13-foot length provides plenty of flexibility for most standard installations, allowing you to route the hose to a floor drain, outside wall, or sump pit.
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Important Installation Tips:
-
Always maintain a downward slope (no upward dips or loops) so gravity can drain the water naturally.
-
Avoid kinks or pinched areas that could trap water and cause backups.
-
Use a condensate pump if the water needs to be moved uphill.
-
Seal the connection tightly at the drain port to prevent leaks at the unit.
